According to a study conducted by the Environmental Working Group, the average adult uses 9 personal care products each day, with 126 unique chemical ingredients. More than a quarter of all women and one of every 100 men use at least 15 products daily .

Every day, those ingredients sink into our skin & into our bloodstreams. You have heard it before, “You are what you eat.” So if you wouldn’t eat methylisothiazolinone, why would you slather it onto your skin to be absorbed into your body? Our skin is a permeable membrane and anything on the surface enters directly into our bodies.

There are a slew of articles promising supple, dewey skin when you follow a 6-step, 10-step, 12-step routine. You’ll find alluring before and after photos, accounts from beauty bloggers, that may convince you to spend the $3,028.48 that Kim Kardashian spends on her beauty routine.

As an exercise, I thought I would look up the latest beauty trend – a multi-step Korean Beauty Routine, as a demonstration.

The most concerning ingredient of all is Fragrance/Parfum.  Fragrance secrecy is legal due to a giant loophole in the Federal Fair Packaging and Labeling Act of 1973, which requires companies to list cosmetics ingredients on the product labels but explicitly exempts fragrance. Because of this loophole, there are 3100+ secret ingredients that cosmetics companies can hide behind ‘Fragrance’.

And let’s say, in an optimist world, all the chemicals used in formulations are safe (which, research shows au contraire). How on Earth would you be able to pinpoint which among the ~476 ingredients that you are using twice daily is actually one your body responds well or not well to? And this is just facial skincare we are talking about, not even getting into shampoo, body lotion, lip balm, toothpaste, or make-up!

Are you excited to have your face drink a nourishing skin smoothie twice daily of  ‘PEG-20 glyceryl triisostearate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Stearalkonium Hectorite, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Sodium Hyaluronate, Diethoxyethyl Succinate, Polyquaternium-51, Hydroxypropyltrimonium, PEG-11 Methyl Ether Dimethicone, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Cyclopentasiloxane, Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoates, 400+ etc.’ ?

Sounds pretty healthy huh?! You’ll look Ahh-mazing~ and you’ll have all those chemicals circulating in your blood in perfect harmony with you body!

In contrast, all Blendily products contain 10 ingredients at most, we list everything on our labels because we have nothing to hide. Everything is edible (though it might not taste good or be particularly fun for digestion). And, with our 100% happiness guarantee, if it doesn’t work for you, just return/exchange without hassle, no questions/explanations needed!
